Safari: Lake Ol Bolossat & Menengai Crater, 14 – 15 July 2018
Note: Absolute deadline 4 July, for full payment.
This trip is to the interesting and little known area between Gilgil, Nyahuru and Nakuru. We shall go via either Gilgil or Njambini.
On Saturday we visit Lake Ol Bolossat which has good bird life, especially ducks, and hippo. Picnic lunch. In the afternoon we drive to Hippo pools near Nyahururu and take a short walk to Thompson’s Falls. We then take the very dramatic descent into the Rift Valley through Subukia. Passing through Nakuru we head out to Maili Saba Camp, as the name suggests, 7 miles on the road out of Nakuru! Perched on the edge of Menengai Crater, this is a charming rustic tented camp with the most amazing view of the silent crater below. It has a warm, casual atmosphere, good food and a small swimming pool. Each tent has its own terrace.
On Sunday after breakfast there will be a long walk to the edge of the crater. After that you can just relax. We depart for Nairobi after lunch.
