A documentary film introducing five street vendors who are members of the Kenya National Alliance of Street Vendors and Informal Traders (KENASVIT).
The informal sector is part of the economy that is not monitored by any form of the goverment. In Kenya this sector includes about 2.5 M street vendors and hawkers, representing 7% of Kenya’s population.
The film focuses on their challenges and stories of success as they attempt to represent the informal traders and engage the local authorities in dialogue and work with them to improve their livelihoods.

Official Opening of The Joy Adamson Exhibition at Nairobi National Museum

Joy Adamson Exhibition funded by KMS is finally completed! You are invited to attend the opening ceremony on Monday 19 May at 6.30 pm.
A representation of 50 of Joy’s intriguing portraits of the Peoples of Kenya and and her beautiful botanicals and wildlife illustrations are complemented by related objects from NMK’s ethnographic and scientific collections.

‘The Gourmet Journey through Kenya’
Do you know what Amaica (Luhya word) means? How well do you know Kenya in terms of it’s authentic traditional cuisines?
This outing will make sure you get “The Kenyan Experience” \ with a taste of authentic dishes from different regions across the country,
Apart from this being an incredible outdoor experience and fun activity for members, there will be lots of learning;
1. How the dishes are prepared
2. Which region the dishes are from
3. Any cultural importance of the meal
The lunch will be set out on a terrace, offering an excellent view of the surrounding leafy neighborhood against a backdrop of an urban skyline, with an ambience and decor that reflects that traditional environment.
The book, “Traditional Food Plants of Kenya,” will be available on the day for Ksh 1,800
