Whether you’re a bookworm looking for your next read or a lover of handmade goods, the KMS Second-hand Book Sale and Pop-Up Market is an event you can’t miss!
Join us for a day filled with literary delights, eco-friendly and unique handmade/homemade goodies, by some really talented local creatives.
Books will be from as low as Ksh 100.
There will be other fun family activities on the day and a chance to meet some local authors.

18th Affordable Art Show – 23 -25 May 2025, Nairobi National Museum
The Affordable Art Show is the largest art show in East Africa, showcasing the work of new and established artists in East Africa. More than 400 artists will be exhibiting their work, with over 800 works of art on display. The artists range from first time exhibitors to established artists who have exhibited internationally. This is a juried show, which means that prices are set during a discussion between the artist and the jury which includes the Curator of Art at the National Museums of Kenya.
A percentage of the sale price of each piece goes to the Kenya Museum Society to fund projects at the National Museums of Kenya.
Opening – Friday, 23 May

Saturday – Sunday, 24 – 25 May

Castle Forest Lodge
Castle Forest Lodge is located deep in the thick forest on the slopes to the south of Mount Kenya. It is set in a natural surroundings of rain forest, fresh water rivers with falls, a fabulous view of the valley on one side of the lodge, and the impressive peaks of Mount Kenya on the other.
We shall indulge in nature walks, bird watching, horseback riding while enjoying the unique ambiance that is the forest, home to various wildlife.

Kenya’s Swahili Coast – The Untold Stories : Talk by Judy Aldrick
Judy Aldrick, writer and historian lived for over 20 years in Mombasa but is now living in Kent UK. She has written several books and many articles and has been researching Coastal history for over 40 years. She worked closely with Cynthia Salvadori in her work to revive the history of Asians in Kenya and spent many years in the Old Town of Mombasa making an inventory of the buildings and listing the Carved Doors of the region. More recently she has developed a website www.historyofeastafrica.com which gives access to her books and articles and newsletters.
Join us as she talks about the background story to her latest book “Kenya’s Swahili Coast’. What made her write it, how it unfolded and a brief overview of the content and what she hoped to achieve by writing it.
