Watercolour Class, led by exhibiting artist, Kanyi Ohawa
2.30pm – 4.30pm
Kanyi loves teaching watercolour to anyone willing to learn. The class is great for absolute beginners and those who have dabbled a bit and want to hone their skills. Kanyi’s classes are fun and engaging. During the class, you’ll learn some great techniques. Not only will you leave with new skills, your own artwork and lots of inspiration, you’ll take home a pack of 12 water colours, 2 paint brushes, a plastic palette and an A5 water colour paper pad to continue to the joy of watercolours.
Note: The class is a max of 20 people.

Wire Tree Sculpting Class, led by exhibiting artist, Eddy Kimani
2pm – 4pm
This will be a fun and interactive 2-hour session with Eddy, who has vast experience in engaging groups as a former broadcaster, professional actor, and a professional public speaker/MC. Eddie will demonstrate techniques and then guide participants to make their own distinctive wire trees. The class costs 3,000 which includes the cost of all materials.
Note: The class is a max of 25 people.

Diani Beach is a major beach on the Indian Ocean, Coast of Kenya (in Eastern Africa). It is located 30 kilometres south of Mombasa, in Kwale County and has been voted Africa’s leading beach destination for the fifth time running since 2015.
The indigenous people of the area are the Digo, one of the nine ethnic communities known as the Mijikenda. Today the area includes Kenyans of various ethnicities who have migrated to Diani, mostly drawn by the tourism related economy or by Diani’s sparkling white sands and lush greenery.

Theme: Sunsets
This will be an engaging art class guided by Artists without Borders, a group of artists, all trained teachers, who will guide the children as they create three masterpieces, using different techniques.
During the session, children will create three sunsets – one a drawing/colouring work, one craft work using recycled materials, and the third a painting.

Lamu Old Town is the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlement in all of East Africa, having been a key settlement for trade since the 14th century. The principal inhabited part of the island, is one of the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlements in East Africa. Due to Lamu’s history in trading gold, spices, and slaves, Lamu is truly a melting pot of different cultures and Arabic, Persian, Indian, European, and Swahili traditions that are evidently on display in Lamu’s Architecture.
Most evident tradition in Lamu however is the Swahili. In falling characteristically with the Swahili culture, most of the town is built with coral stone and mangrove timber. The town is characterized by the simplicity of structural forms enriched by such features as inner courtyards, verandas, narrow winding streets and elaborately carved wooden doors.
Lamu Old Town has a wealth of beautiful, historic buildings, so a tour of this area is a good place to start your exploration.
