Easter Safari – Tsavo West and Lakes Jipe and Chala
18-21 April, 2014

This very exciting trip will cover Tsavo West, Lakes Jipe and Chala, Taveta and possiblyLoitokitok. The weekend will be spent in the remote south west corner of Tsavo West. This is also the area where most of the fighting between the British and Germans in the First World War took place. Grogan of the ‘Cape-to-Cairo’ fame owned extensive estates here.
We shall stay at Ziwani tented camp. Located on a 30,000 acre farm on the edge of Tsavo West, it is built next to a secluded dam on the Tsavo River and has a beautiful view of the peaks of Kilimanjaro. You can see crocodile and hippo in the dam and the area is famous for its birdlife. The tents are spacious, most meals are served outdoors and the food is good. Sitting by the log fire in the evening you see the dam and Mt Kilimanjaro.
