Talk: Rhinos and the main rhino horn markets in Asia
Lucy Vigne, Ivory Trade Reseacher
Saturday, 27 February 2021, Hosted on Zoom
5.30pm – 6.30pm (EAT)
Lucy wishes to remember Esmond Martin, who was tragically murdered three years ago and who was on the Council of the Kenya Museum Society for many years. They worked to help combat the illegal rhino horn trade since the 1980s. She will introduce you to the world’s five rhino species and then talk about past and present poaching challenges in Kenya and elsewhere and about studying rhino horn demand since the 1980s, focusing on her past survey work in Yemen and more recently in China, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.
