Western Kenya and Kakamega forest
23-26 January, 2014
This trip will be part historic and part nature. We shall cover some of the history of the Railway in Western Kenya and visit a couple of interesting stations- Londiani, Kipkelion and Fort Ternan.
We stay for 2 nights at Kwessos house. Built in the 1920’s it is a charming home with extensive gardens and a heated swimming pool. We can have long walks on the 3,000 acre estate, visit a waterfall and a dam. Horse riding is available at 1,500ksh an hour. For the more experienced riders there is a cross-country course.
On 25 January we proceed to Kakamega forest. It is a remnant of the great rainforests that once stretched from western Africa across to the eastern shores. There will be a walk in the forest. We shall stay at the serene, old fashoined Rondo Retreat.
