Lake Baringo Safari – Birder and Angler Alert, April 30- May 2

Join us on a trip to nature lovers paradise in Lake Baringo. Lake Baringo, one of the fresh water lakes in the Rift Valley and a jewel, is known for its abundant bird life and gorgeous scenery. It’s tea colored waters changes with the light and is home to hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and over 450 plus species of birds.

We will stay at Tumbili Cliff Lodge on a rocky hill above the banks of Lake Baringo. The Lodge enjoys a unique view of the scenery that is Lake Baringo. Many species of birds can be seen just sitting in the Lodge.

The itinerary for the trip includes:

  • A half day boat trip to small Njemp Island to see fish drying and to visit the Ruko Community Wildlife Conservancy to walk with the Rothschild giraffes. The Conservancy is the site of the translocation of an impala herd and a small recovering population of 8 endangered Rothschild’s giraffes- originally known as Baringo giraffes. This section of the conservancy became an island with the rising waters at Lake Baringo and is also the home to ostriches, warthogs, rock hyraxes, and monitor lizards,
  • Boat safari on Lake Baringo for wildlife viewing,
  • A look at the night sky with a with a high quality professional astronomical Observatory,
  • Relaxing in the Lodge’s swimming pool.
